Glider Pro Houses

Please note that I'm not trying to make an Glider Archive here. In fact, I put this page on-line in the home someone else would start an archive (in which case this file might be of help).

In alphabetic order

Absolute Glider

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Ad House

Can be found at:

Description: This is a funny house. You can tell the author ran out of ideas for room names and began regurgitating advertising jingles. Anyway, if you hate TV commercials, like most of us, you'll probably get a laugh at the room names.

Art Museum

Can be found at:

Description: A house with a lot of Art. Fun to see, not difficault to fly through. Definitely one of the "pretty" houses. To see the full paintings, be sure Glider Pro is set to display houses in 9-room mode.

Asylum Pro, The

Can be found at:

Description: This is a "showcase house". Why The Asylum? Well, hopefully playing this house will drive you crazy. Also, it's supposed to be a home for insane, weird, or just-a-little-off-center type of people. It has one star, multiple routes, and lots of bananas. That's about it.

Beach

Can be found at:

Description: unfinished

Betsy's New House

Can be found at:

Description: A great (and huge) house, with a lot of custom art, and well designed. It's pretty hard, and not only because there are so many light-switches. [See also GliderTech 7/95 (Grade: Good (A-)).]

Beyond Belief

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Castle o' the Air

Can be found at:

Description: Another pretty house. It starts out moderately difficult but gets worse toward the end. The house looks like a castle. Good luck on the long grease ride at the end!

Channel Surfing

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Christmas in Lumberland

Can be found at:

Description: Sequel to Lumberland, one room bigger than the original. It has tons of art, a QuickTime movie, etc. Is accompanied with a file called "GLIDER PRO CHRISTMAS PATCH" to get a new soundtrack for Glider PRO!

Comfy Chair, The

Can be found at:

Description: Small, but originally house, er... chair. Not very hard to play. [See also GliderTech 7/95 (Grade: Good (B+)).]

Davis Station

Can be found at:

Description: This is a fairly easy "pretty" house. It's not too large so you should be able to get through it in fairly short order. Your glider will follow a stretch of train tracks, past a train station into a small farm house, and on.... This house is sort of a tribute to Kansas.

Demo House

Can be found at:

Description: The easiest and smallest house. This is the house that plays automatically if you wait long enough in Glider PRO for the Demo to come up. After watching Glider PRO play through this house by itself, a beginner ought to try loading this house and playing through it.

Descent

Can be found at:

Description: This house requires quick reflexes. It's surreal world is guarenteed to freak you out. There's one room with floating teddy bears.

Fallway, The

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Flip Up

Can be found at:

Description: A not so big, but very original, and well done house. The entire house is flipped upside down. Worth playing. [See also Glider Tech 7/95 (Grade: Excellent (A)).]

Glider Hall

Can be found at:

Description: Rather nasty. Has a lot of hidden enemies.

Grand Prix

Can be found at:

Description: The Grand Prix (French for "The Grand Prize") is a house based around the theme of cars (It's more than likely that this came from the author's Driver's Ed experiences). Be forewarned: Just like the real roads, you have to obey the street signs. The player must also have a basic knowledge of the road, as there's a driving test that you must pass to complete the house.

Hallway Of Hell

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Holy Answering Machine, The

Can be found at:

Description: The house with a weird house title will notify you about a terrifyingly new danger! Sadly, I forgot what it was. But watch out for it all the same.

House at Macworld PRO

Can be found at:

Description: A house made during MacWorld exhibiton of 1995 (?)

ImagineHouse PRO

Can be found at:

Description: In ImagineHouse PRO, you'll be challenged by balloon mobs, experience the majesty of the spectacular atrium, and be sucked through complex air ducts. And see if you can find the Dark House of Bonuses. [See the Read Me of the house.]

ImagineHouse PRO II

Can be found at:

Description: ImagineHouse PRO II is a sort of younger sibling to Leviathan. Note that this is version II - version I was released last year on America Online, and instantly was catapulted into the Glider PRO Hall of Fame. For the second edition, the house was expanded with new rooms and art. It features two-story windows, nighttime houses, and a slew of other surprises.

In The Mirror

Can be found at:

Description: You know that phrase that's stamped on rear-view mirrors? "Objects in the mirror are close than they appear?" This short, simple house plays around with that phrase. Hence, the name "In the Mirror." The motif of the mirror is prevalent throughout, along with some interesting sounds. In The Mirror was designed with simplicity in mind, so there is a moderate amount of artwork.

Jindor

Can be found at:

Description: One of the toughest houses ever seen (along with Castle of the Air). [See also GliderTech 5/95 (Grade: excelent (A)).]

Land of Illusion

Can be found at:

Description: With graphics inspired by M. C. Escher, this house features lots of optical illusions and appearance/disappearance tricks. It will take you through a metamorphic sky, a steam room, a doll house, and a final illusion, "the vortex". Prepare to see the unseeable!

Leviathan

Can be found at:

Description: This is the largest house on the CD. "Glidophiles", take heart - Leviathan is true to its name - it's biiiiiig. In fact, it tips the scales at just a bit over 2 megabytes. Leviathan encompasses over a year of work, and features over a megabyte of custom artwork alone. You'll fly from the depths of the sewer to the stars and beyond. Lavishly decorated with 26 custom backgrounds, Leviathan also features 16 custom objects and12 custom sounds. Clearly, Leviathan is not a house for the weak-hearted.

Lumberland

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Madhouse II

Can be found at:

Description: It has Tons of secret rooms, especially where you least expect them; All-new original graphics, including fences, posters and security cameras. If you can find the "warp vortex," you're an ace player!; Three different houses to explore; one has two paths through it, another has three floors that can be played through in any order you like, and one you have to go through twice!; Teddy bears. Lots and lots of teddy bears; And lastly, a hidden house that will challenge (to put it mildly; frustrate, vex, drive to tears, etc. are also good substitutes) the Glider unlucky enough to find it... and richly reward the Glider lucky enough to survive it. [See the Read Me of the house or GliderTech 8/95 (grade: very good (A))]

Madhouse III

Can be found at:

Description: What you'll see when you download this file was originally supposed to be the beginning of a planned epic-scale spooky house, but I just never got around to it. Still, there are a few tricky rooms here, so give it a runthrough!

Madhouse Pro

Can be found at:

Description: A re-released version of Nathan's first house. Contains new spiffy graphics, a new opening section called MorningHouse, and the same lousy design.

Mases

Can be found at:

Description: Mases is a delightfully hard house. Unlike most other houses, it begins in the sewer. Once you escape from that maze (and grab a star in the works), the rest of the house is pretty straightforward. There are floating objects and some very strange looking room backgrounds, but they're few and far between. It's tough, almost as tough as Jindor. [See GliderTech 6/95 (Grade: good (A-)).]

Metropolis

Can be found at:

Description: A house on steroids. Actually, it's a skyscraper. Climb level by level to the very top and be sure to visit the underground parking garage.

MMPG

Can be found at:

Description: MMPG means Mighty Morphin' Power Glider and is a short house that I built around a simple concept: a very cool QuickTime movie that makes it look like the prizes are morphing into each other! The other highlight of this house is the "amazing shrinking glider."

Moose House, The

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Morning House

Can be found at:

Description: The MorningHouse section of MH Pro was so well-received that I spun it off into a house of its own, with a brand new floor, new sounds and new secrets.

Neighbourhood

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Nemo's Market

Can be found at:

Description: It's a rather unusual grocery store with a special feature for shoppers: at the end of each aisle, you get to go on a "shopping spree" in a special prize room. If you are quick enough, you can get all the prizes and the stars too, but watch out for the sticky fly paper, the clunky shopping carts, and the return of the "bad cat".

Normal Neighbourhood, A

Can be found at:

Description: No custom graphics, but some good rooms, and it makes for a small download.

On The Road

Can be found at:

Description: Fly through crowded streets, bridges, parking lots and a highway while you dodge cars, trucks, taxis, police cars, joggers and more! A ton of brand new, totally original art, lots of sounds, and plenty of freedom. You can go anywhere you want - there are more than a dozen possible and totally different ways to the star.

Paper Palace

Can be found at:

Description: It has six great backgrounds, tons of custom art, five incredible sounds, and an amazing QuickTime movie! It's fun, challenging and unlocked. Test your knowledge in the Glider QuizPro section. You may have played "quizzes" in Glider houses before, but none like this: answer all the questions, THEN find out your score. A very unique experience. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Pyramid, The

Can be found at:

Description: It is based on the famous pyramids of ancient Egypt. You start at the base of the pyramid and work your way up to the top. It has 11 rooms at the base, and of course, gets smaller the further up you go (I'll let you figure out how many rooms that is for yourself). It is a pretty short, artwork-based house. The artwork, sounds, and the QuickTime movie are all original.

Rainbow's End

Can be found at:

Description: A really slick house with beautifu; custom backgrounds and some new tricks. To find the rainbow, you must travel through a house with art nouveau balconies and an oddly peaked roof, a greenhouse, a sewer, and a playground with a four-story jungle gym. Keep an eye out for anything with rainbow colors.

Sahara Desert

Can be found at:

Description: Travel across the hot sands of the Sahara and up through two pyramids full of traps and secrets! It's all custom backgrounds with lots of art and about 50 rooms (ten secret rooms). It's hard, but fun, and there are plenty of extra lives, and I've left it unlocked. Try it out!

SeaCaves

Can be found at:

Description: Gliders beneath sea level. Comes with a patch for the Glider Program.

Simpsons Adventure

Can be found at:

Description: Call the Corey Hotline; Worship Krusty the Clown; Bounce on Homer and Marge's bed; Put Snake in jail for the 53rd time; See what Apu does on his breaks; Become one of the cultural elite by visiting Springfield's Art Museum. Find out so many more Simpson's references that I lost track of them all. VERY much custom art!

Sky Links

Can be found at:

Description: An aerial golf course? Yes, and only for Glider PRO players. Imagine playing golf with a paper airplane instead of a silly little ball. No clubs, no carts, and no special shoes are required - and some of the greens really ARE situated on clouds! Sky Links is a full 18 hole course with sand traps, water hazards, and some very tricky cross winds. Some of the holes are a breeze (literally) while others will challenge even the best Glider fliers. And don't forget to stop in at the Clubhouse for a legal beverage or two and to chat with Raoul, the bartender.

Skyscraper, The

Can be found at:

Description: With The Skyscraper your Glider can climb the west side of one of the prominent towers in the Glider PRO world. On your way up you confront many challenges, gaze at fresh new custom art, objects and check out the movie playing on every TV.

Slumberland

Can be found at:

Description: This was the "original" Glider PRO house. At some point or another, you're going to have to play this house and try to complete it. Why? Because your high score for this house has become a sort of "standard" or touchstone by which all other Glider players are ranked. This house is huge! It was the result of 4 people's efforts and, as such, there's a wide variety of styles throughout this house. There are pretty areas, mazes, areas requiring precision timing and dexterity, areas requiring you to think and experiment, etc.

Smiley House

Can be found at:

Description: Remember the Smiley T-shirt in the Spot's Palace houses, the Smiley Glider from Matt Wolfe's "House of Food," and the Smiley balloon formation at the beginning of the Titanic? Well, I took the idea and ran with it! SmileyHouse features at least one Smiley in every playable room. It also features an area based on a creation of master mazemaker Bob Abbot.

SpacePods

Can be found at:

Description: This is not a "house" at all, but a labyrinthine space colony apparently built by an unknown alien race. It may take you a little while to get used to navigating from pod to pod through the connecting tubes, but once you do, you'll be on your way to solving the mystery of the cryptic alien pictographs which hold the key for getting the single star.

Spot's Palace

Can be found at:

Description: An interesting house. The central theme is cats; there are recurring pictures of cats all over. Spot's Palace has that special quality to it that makes you want to keep on exploring, as if there's something your missing. True, it does have floating clock syndrome; there are some untidy things that detract from its appeal; but overall, it's recommendable. [See GliderTech 5/95 (Grade: very good (A-)).]

Star Trek Voyager

Can be found at:

Description: Based on "Star Trek: Voyager", this huge house contains lots of custom graphics and sounds.

Stone Tower II

Can be found at:

Description: Stone Tower II is the sequel to the difficult and seemingly endless Stone Tower. This time, to beat the tower, you will plummet 35 stories down to the star at the base! An incredible stone pattern gives the tower an old, eeie look. Improvements over the original Stone Tower include: a brand new stone pattern, sound, multiple pathways and a more even level of difficulty. It has great art, and it's a small download.

Teddy World

Can be found at:

Description: This a huge adventure house. It is full of magic teddy bears that transport you to different worlds. The object is to visit all of the different worlds and in each world hit a special switch to turn off a toaster. All toasters must be switched off in order to finish the house. For a real challenge, count how many teddy bears you can find in this house!

Temple, The

Can be found at:

Description: A five-room microhouse featuring Mayan temple graphics. It was supposed to be a test in preparation for a larger version, but the author just never got around to it.

Themulad

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Things in the Basement

Can be found at:

Description: This fairly hard house has six stars, stupid room titles, and the key to the whole house has gotta be that duct in the basement guarded by a whole armageddon of darts.

Titanic

Can be found at:

Description: Rather than the usual "house" motif, this dare-I-say-it "house" is actually a ship. The Titanic in fact - about to leave on her first maiden voyage. Your goal? To get off the ship! Along the way you'll visit a number of cabins, perhaps the engine room, a ballroom... and who knows, you might even visit the ocean floor!

Two Room Wonder

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Wolfe Tower

Can be found at:

Description: This house features something no other house has. One, there is a replacement glider PICT inside the house, so you can play Glider PRO with a different glider without having to install it into Glider PRO itself! This glider PICT (called 'Grassy Glider') is from my upcoming file of replacement gliders. Two, there are replacement sounds for some events within Glider PRO that follow the same idea mentioned above. [See the Read Me of the house or GliderTech 8/95 (grade: very good (A-))]

Wolfe Tower II

Can be found at:

Description: ??

Non playable houses

Custom Banner

Can be found at:

Description: This house shows how to use custom graphics in your houses. In this case it replaces the banner (the welcome message) with a custom one.

Dirty Tricks

Can be found at:

Description: This house example shows you a couple tricks. One trick is with the "dual height" blower. This is a floor blower that blows you up to one height, but when you hit a switch, the blower kicks you up to an even higher height. The trick in the left half of th e room is that, with foil, you can use the toast to give yourself an extra boost upwards.

Divided Rooms

Can be found at:

Description: This house shows how to make a wall in the center of a room using the "invisible rebounder" object.

Empty House

Can be found at:

Description: As the title suggests, this is an empty house. It is not intended to be "played", rather it is intended to be the bare bones for creating your own house with Glider PRO's editor.

Hidden Objects

Can be found at:

Description: This house shows you a number of ways to hide objects (and some objects you may not have thought to hide). Many of the objects are hidden simply by covering them with a Custom Pict object that exactly matches the wall color. It's easy then to hide clocks, shredders, almost anything.

Hidden Prizes

Can be found at:

Description: Many people have tried to hide prizes behind other objects in a room in order to conceal the prizes. One frequent scenario involves hiding prizes like extra gliders behind clouds. The problem though is that when the player flies over the hidden prize and gets it, a large hole is left in the cloud (or whatever was being used to hide the prize). This house shows how to avoid that.

Magic House

Can be found at:

Description: This house has two custom picture objects - a plain "wall colored" square and one with the word "MAGIC!" written on it. By stacking these up in the right order with two extra glider prizes sandwiched between, it can make the words "MAGIC!" appear or disappear through wall switches. The second room contains switches that make an extra glider disappear and then reappear. Try the house out - you'll see.

Switch Fun

Can be found at:

Description: This house shows a lot of things you can do with switches, like linking it to enemies (stop the ball), linking to prices (price disappears), or even triggers (light goes off with a delay).

Houses unknown to me

AutoPilot

Can be found at:

Description: AutoPilot is a "hands-off" house for Glider PRO. That is, it is designed to play through all of its 50 rooms entirely by itself. Why make a house with no player involvement, you might ask? Well, mostly for entertainment value (I think you'll find it very amusing) and also to show off some spectacular glider "tricks". Buckle your seat belt and watch as your jet-powered glider blasts its way out of Nemo's mailbox, dodging flocks of darts and copters and snatching up prizes along the way. Highlights of the trip include the doppelganger rooms, the mousetrap, the toaster chute, the malfuntioning transport, the broken fish bowl, the closed window, and the disappearing star cluster. Custom backgrounds include a brick room, a faux marble room, a reflective stainless steel room, a metal roof with pop-up windows, and a brick exterior. Lots of custom objects and hilarious sounds, too.

Bottle, The

Can be found at:

Description: Your mission: Glide upwards until you reach the mouth of a giant bottle, leave and then collect the star. This house is created in the style of Noah's other two small houses "The Cardboard Box" and "The Juice Canister."

Codename: Kumquat

Can be found at:

Description: features original backgrounds, original objects (and three snatched ones!), a few cool sounds, and a QuickTime movie.

Ensemble

Can be found at:

Description: Excellent house. Spectacular art, sounds and other surprises unseen in any other Glider house.

Longview

Can be found at:

Description: Based on the one piece of custom art in the Glider PRO house "Green Day", Longview is a three room house of switches, mazes and plenty more complications.

Maison de Catherine, La

Can be found at:

Description: A house in French, with no custom graphics or sounds.

Motherboard, The

Can be found at:

Description: All you Mac-Heads will get a kick out of The Motherboard, a house in which you Glide through a computer's Motherboard.

Starlight

Can be found at:

Description: Ever wonder where those magic stars come from? Follow the storyline of this house to find out! Starlight has lots of custom art, about 40 rooms, and a Quicktime movie. It's also pretty difficult, for those of you who like a challenge.

Silvia's Makeup Kit

Can be found at:

Description: Once again in the style of Noah's "The Cardboard Box" and "The Juice Canister", Silvia's Makeup Kit is a sort of a maze house, in which you cover the same ground over and over again.
